The 145-acre Pigeon Creek Project was created to enhance the quality and longevity
of its floodplain wetlands. AmeriStar Casino, who operates along Pigeon Creek, agreed to
construct and install a low-elevation sill to remove the accumulated silt. Its primary objective would be to create and enhance a wetlands area of approximately 12 acres. In addition, a
roosting/nesting habitat in the center of the wetted area was also formed.

These features are expected to maintain water levels in the wetlands for a longer duration
and at a higher level. They will also reduce the inflow of heavy sediment into the area. The
end results will ultimately restore this migratory waterfowl habitat and enhance Pigeon
Creek's wetlands.
